Carbon Caps Already Killing Californian Jobs

Posted April 24th, 2009 at 12:42pm in Energy and Environment 9 Print This Post Print This Post

This week the House of Representatives held hearings on a sweeping new law that would impose a cap on carbon emissions and regulate energy and manufacturing in this country. Moderate Democrats in Congress are less than thrilled about telling their constituents they are about to swell the ranks of the unemployed by making it even more difficult for companies in the energy and manufacturing sector to stay in business.

William LaJeunesse reports live from a cement plant in California that will likely shudder due to the new “low carbon” emissions rule just passed by state regulators.

Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) debate the merits of taking California’s policies national.

YouTube Preview ImageHeritage’s research on U.S. manufacturing vulnerability shows roughly 4 million jobs nationwide will disappear or relocate to other countries. This massive climate bill is a minefield for American families, who will pay extremely higher prices for energy and goods, and for American businesses who will suffer under the heavy hand of government.

California is a basket case- broke and stupid. It has shut down all energy plants including the conventional hydropower plants. It imports energy all the while spouting about the non-existent green energy.
California with it astronomical taxes, fees, broken schools and hostile environment for business will soon become a haven largely for illegals. May be we should sell it to Mexico to get rid of the sore on the nation.

How much more proof is needed to do something about the American government taking over America?

Inslee said something about “free permits”???? Compliments of taxpayers?

Take everything off the table and start from scratch.

California’s loss is Michigan’s gain. Many movie studios are re-locating operations to Michigan due to onerous taxes imposed by California and tax incentives that Michigan is providing.

If the entire US adopts this moronic “green” energy policy, the jobs will move elsewhere – i.e. – to another country – not just to another state. Global warming is a political lie.

The problem with cap and trade is that it makes the premise (EPA) that carbon dioxide is a pollutant. Every breath we take pollutes the air? Ridiculous! Just another way for the government to get into our wallets and control us. It’s time we kick these guys out of office and let’s send the EPA with them.

Carbon Caps are based on the Pseudo Science of the discredited Global Warming hypothesis. Therefore we not only are regulating nonexistant threats, but taxing them also. Solution, DO NOT RE-ELECT, any of these politicians who believe and support such things.
    Hozro

Why don’t we just plant some more trees? They do a great job at converting Carbon Dioxide into Oxygen and we don’t have to pay them anything.

Al Gore and all of his fiends in Washington will destroy our economy by destroying jobs. These companies will just pick up and move to countries without all the regulations.

Humans cause global warming? The “Great Lakes” were created by melting glaciers 12,000 years ago! The program just watched on the Science Channel a week or so ago, probably now confiscated by the Obamists and burned! So just who was responsible for global warming during that period “mr” gore?…lower case used due to his lower case mind. This “hated by Tennesseeans” who really know this fool has made MILLIONS off of his SCAM. Now the “creator of the internet(his claim)” is a scientist? When did this happen? And why is the “left” so utterly gullible? Do they all have the “Garafallo Syndrome”?

There was a time when Grey Davis was Gov fo CA and he did shut down many sources of enrgy in CA. He was buying Electricity from TX coal plants that were so old they were only allowed to run 4 days a week before paying fines for poluting. He payed and my stock portfolio grew. What else could I do?
CA loves to say they reduced polution at home. They simply buy from out of state and pay dearly for poluting somewhere else. Goofy!
