Spaceflight Now‘s Craig Covault reports:
New details emerging from the analysis of data from North Korea’s April 5 Taepo-Dong-2 test indicate the vehicle flew successfully several hundred miles further than previously believed and used more advanced steering than has been demonstrated by the North Korean’s before.
The rocket impacted as far as 2,390 miles from the launch site as opposed to about 1,900 miles as earlier announced by the U. S. and Japan.
Covault’s revelations come one day after the Washington Times Bill Gertz reported that the Pentagon failed to deploy our best radar tracking system to monitor North Korea’s test, two days after North Korea’s rapid moves to eject international inspectors and restart its nuclear facility have left the Obama administration scrambling, and ten days since Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced $1.4 billion in cuts to the United States missile defense shield.
I thought just his presence at the White House will endear every nation around the world. Obama said that Bush policies are the reason for our unpopularity. I guess N.Korea doesn't share that vision.
With his administration going back to pre-9/11 policies, the US will be ripe for a "man-made disaster" (aka terrorist attack) in a few years.
