Former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore heard much criticism from skeptics of his apocalyptic global warming predictions when he purchased a multi-million condo in San Francisco. After all, if one believes sea-level rises will swallow the coast, the last place to purchase a home would be a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean, right?
But if all goes as planned, it will be the federal government and businesses that pay for ‘victims’ of global warming. In draft legislation introduced by Chairman Henry Waxman (D–CA) of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Chairman Edward Markey (D–MA) of the House Energy and Environment Subcommittee,
Self-proclaimed victims of global warming or those who “expect to suffer” from it – from beachfront property owners to asthmatics – for the first time would be able to sue the federal government or private businesses over greenhouse gas emissions under a little-noticed provision slipped into the House climate bill.
Environmentalists say the measure was narrowly crafted to give citizens the unusual standing to sue the U.S. government as a way to force action on curbing emissions. It would allow citizens to seek up to $75,000 in damages from the government each year, but would cap the total amount paid out each year at $1.5 million, committee staff said. It is unclear whether the provision would actually cap damages at $75,000 per person, because the U.S. law referenced does not establish payouts by the government.”
People have sued, and in some cases won, for coffee being too hot, McDonald’s making them fat, and airlines being too cramped. Suing for being a victim of global warming is just as egregious, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone if this turns into a lawsuit parade for those seeking damage rewards.
What’s the point of having homeowner’s insurance if you can blame every natural disaster on the government and businesses? Despite the fact that natural disasters are just that, natural, this provision will open doors to lawsuits that should not even exist. Can someone really pinpoint global warming as the primary cause of an asthma attack?

I understand that more people die each year from exposure to cold than from heat. Will this open the door for lawsuits against the government and the left reverend AlGore and his flock by those who suffer or expect to suffer from cold weather?
The actions of the last 80 days of the Obama Admin have truly sickened me. Along with the appointments of radicals and socialists to powerful positions, increased taxes for decades to come, embarrasssing the USA abroad, not being willing to prove his citizenship and trampling the Constitution underfoot this President is a complete threat to our way of life and future generations. Wake up America! You are being led down the road to hell. Impeach this SOB and his whole crew before we are all in a North American slave camp!
Global warming is a way for the Democrates to destroy the Major Energy Companies, thus destroying the Republican Party (lack of funds) and the Economy. Energy companies are the only ones able to out spend the federal government. (The government would crush these companies through litigation, but they can't out spend them at this time). Global warming is a ploy that uses the hardship of the poor animals (using children as their primary targets) and exploting the american people who are either unable to comprehend what is happening or just want to follow the rest of the sheep, who have no clue and are heading for the cliff. If this happens our way of life will crumble and we will become a socialist country with all rights given out by the Socialists now in power.
There is not now, nor was there ever, an Al Gore type of Global Warming. It was Hype. The policitions bought it along with most everyone else, including the Nobel Committee.
All that proves is Lenin was correct when he said, "A lie told often enough will become the truth."
Gore's competition for the Nobel prize was a woman who in W11 saved over 2,500 Jewish children from Concentration Camps and certain death. She was imprisioned and tortured, but never gave up the names and locations of those children. Makes you feel kind of ashamed to be a citizen of the same Nation as a lieing ex-vicepresident, who supposidly invented the Internet (first clue)!
We need in this Nation all new faces in the Senate and the House. It is less than two years until the first go around election for those seats in 2010. We all need to push in our individual States, for Open Primaries'. Everyone can vote for anyone they want to, in the Primary. Remember-Replace.
Two years after that, 2012, replace Obama, vote for someone new in that house too. Any Party, doesn't matter, just new!
For far to long we have kept the Congress idiots in their seats promising their empty promises, and we always get the same results. Only an insane person would and 2+2 and expect something other than 4! Are we insane, or are we stupid, or maybe we have just been asleep or too trusting for too long. They work for us. We tell them what we want done, and how. Not the other way around. Time to end the confusion.
