  • Who Is Going To Pay Off Obama's Debt? Our Kids

Employment took another hit in march, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, with job losses climbing another 0.4 of a percentage point to 8.5 percent, the highest level since 1983. What should we do? Heritage scholars James Sherk and J.D. Foster have an idea:

These discouraging numbers underscore that Congress should not embark on an anti-growth taxing and spending frenzy. Unfortunately President Obama’s budget currently before Congress would do just that, increasing spending by more than $1,000,000,000,000–one trillion dollars–over the next decade.

This is precisely the wrong time to burden the economy with higher taxes and additional wasteful government spending. Remember, if government spending got us out of recessions, why would we ever have recessions? We’d just spend out way out of everything.

But no matter. If worse come to worse, and we can’t pay off all our debt, we’ve got this whole group of cheap, unskilled laborers to pick up the slack:

Who's job is it to stop this. He is only one man!

    2. Lynn B. DeSpain says:

Its the same old problem, most politicians can't think past lunch.

      Hozro

    3. mike baker Dallas Ce says:

If you saw the government as the Center of the Universe, you would understand the genious of liberal politics, serf.

    4. Mark says:

No, his job is to execute law not to save the economy. he can propose a plan, but it's not in his power to tell the Ceo of AIG to retire indirectly. That's a violation of his constitutional powers!!! Taxing the economy and flooding our economy with money is tanking our economy. I will be paying for this failed attempt to help the economy the rest of my life. And he want to Harvard, I wouldn't claim him as alumni if I was Harvard. England has done the same thing Obama is doing with there economy and their pound drop 30%!!!!! Thank you President Obama and big government so much for stopping frugal and wasteful spending.

    5. David, Raleigh, NC says:

The bleating sheep and their herders elected this guy. In a couple years when "the chickens come home to roost", perhaps they'll have tired of what's seemingly in vogue at the moment and elect a legislature grounded in reality to put a stop to his vacuous nonsense.

    6. Jim in Spokane says:

Obama's plan is to buy the votes of society's moochers. The more moochers, the more votes. I will be very surprised if we don't see a major push to amend the constitution to allow him to serve more than two terms.

He said his "administration has no intention of running General Motors." He made Richard Wagoner step down as General Manager and now says he will replace the entire Board of Directors by August.

Do not be surprised any longer when he does something of a socialist nature – it isn't that he and his cabinet have forgotten the constitution, it's that don't want to operate according to it.

    7. Lisa, Roseville, MN says:

The last time I checked, there wasn't anyone stopping him from moving out of the US. If he's so embarassed by our arrogance and wealth he should redistribute his assets and move to a Iran or South Korea. The rest of us don't need his kind of help.

    8. Anita L, Arizona says:

My children literally VOTED for Obama! Schoolchildren across the country "voted" for Obama, due to their liberally oriented teachers. Major media outlets cheer him on, no matter what he does. As a Conservative, I am deadset against Obama's policies. You tell me how we get people to save themselves when they are getting their self-interest and self-preservation drummed out of them.

    9. Ross, Bradenton, F says:

This mess can be laid at the feet of 545 elected officials, the president(including the VP), each member of the House of Representatives, and each member of the US Senate be they Democrat, Republican, or Independent.

-They were entrusted by our vote to not only uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, but also to insure the opportunity for all to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; not the guarantee of it. For this they have failed.

-They were elected to strengthen America through guarding against crippling laws and regulation that would kill America's "Golden Goose" of capitalism. This too they have failed.

-They were elected to insure that an elite ruling class did not materialize in America as it had with monarchs, oligoplies, dictators of all strips, and other despots. They are failing on this count, many see themselves as rulers not the "hired help".

-They were elected to insure that taxes would not be abused for unwanted, unnecessary, unlawful, unconstitutional, too expensive programs and entitlements. They have failed absolutely on this account.

All those that have been entrusted with the sacred trust of guarding and insuring our God given liberty have failed us. That includes the press whose very existence hangs on the 1st Amendment of our constitution. This to will pass away when the 2nd Amendment pass into history.

Now our children's and our children's children's future has been forfeited through reckless and abuse of power. These 545 elected officials have set a course for the ultimate destruction of our beloved country as we have known it. Liberty,Batuimus!

    10. Jimmy Konogeris, May says:

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.—-Winston Churchill

    11. Jason Gault, Ortonvi says:

I appreciate the video, although I wish Obama's name was not on it. Not because I agree with him, but because it is continuing the rift between red and blue politics. The real truth is that while we are aguing about Dems and Repubs, they are both robbing us blind. It's not a political thing, it's a constitutional thing.

    12. Edward Kowalski, Che says:

Jason, It may not be democrats or republicans specifically doing this to us. But it is a liberal Congress doing it, not a traditionalist Congress. Check Congress for libs vs, traditionalists. That is political!

    13. Jean Allen, Denver, says:

Obama is not trying to "fix" the economy. He wants to change America forever. H wants to ignore the Constitution and remake America into a socialist society. And he has lots of help. Now it is the people who want to stay free and under the Constitution to make our voices heard. 2010 is coming and we need good men and women to lead the Republican party and give us someone to vote for.

    14. Joe McCann, Converse says:

One of the most basic economic principles is that you can't spend your way out of debt. If I have $10000 in credit card debt and I borrow $10000 from the bank to pay them off, I still owe $10000. I just have a longer time to pay it off. Gee, now I can spend more on my credit card again. It's a vicious cycle that we we never get out of!

    15. gburg61 says:

they will NOT stop unless stopped…..do you think mussolini would have stopped ?? even if asked nicely like john boehner is doing? OH PLEASE ms pelosi stop..ooohhhh mr reid ..no more ..please!!! we need our military to force the usurper issue..please help colonels and generals..stop obeying his orders and force the issue before it REALLLY is too late.

      time to water the tree

    16. Galen- Portland says:

this guy has no idea what he is doing.

he is spending money that we don't have and it is not going to help in the least. my brother had a pretty funny idea- Obama Monopoly.- whenever you lose all of your money the bank just bails you out. or in this case the bank is the goverment. If obama keeps spreading the wealth there will be no wealth left.

    18. John, Florida says:

You really want the military to step in? Where were you when Bush was spending away on Iraq and creating his secret prison down in cuba? That sounds very American to me…a prison which isn't American but is American run and you have neither a judge or jury. Very constitutional. Quick call the military to take out the president! "sarcasm in case you didn't get it"

Those who give up freedom for security deserve neither – Benjamin Franklin

Don't even get me started on the whole socialism thing. We're not going socialist and never will, we have a "hybrid" society. Your local police, fire department, schools, all paid for by the United States government! Isn't that socialist!? We still live in a capitalistic country not a socialist one and that's the way it'll stay.

    19. Squeegee says:

John in Florida what planet are you living on? You said we are not going socialist. John, why do you think they call it Socialized medicine? Obviously you did not agree with Bush's policies. Bush was attempting to keep our country safe. The reason he had the prison down in Cuba was to keep these people that want to kill us all as far away as possible instead of releasing them back into the US like this goofball has or is attempting to do. Wake up John.
