EPA’s Global Warming Regulations: Time to Let the Facts Sink In

Posted March 25th, 2009 at 12:33pm in Energy and Environment 9 Print This Post Print This Post

The Environmental Protection Agency’s recent endangerment finding that greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, “are pollutants that endanger the public’s health and welfare” would come with monumental costs. The cumulative GDP losses for 2010 to 2029 approach $7 trillion. Single-year losses exceed $600 billion in 2029, more than $5,000 per household. Job losses are expected to exceed 800,000 in some years, and exceed at least 500,000 from 2015 through 2026. It is important to note that these are net job losses, after any jobs created by compliance with the regulations–so-called green jobs–are taken into account.

A silver lining? “While the EPA has so far been silent about how it might actually regulate CO2 — and the endangerment finding is only an early step in a process that could take a year or longer.”

The aforementioned costs, paired with what little environmental benefits we receive and questionable science, are the primary reasons this should be a slow process. Even EPA officials and Congressional proponents of global warming legislation are taking their time. The projected costs of regulation aren’t going anywhere, and time will allow more facts and reasoning to come to the table.

Another concern is what a large undertaking this will be for the EPA. New York Law School professor David Schoenbrod emphasizes, “This would be a regulatory maze far exceeding anything we’ve seen before.”

The EPA’s Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR), which details how the agency would reduce carbon dioxide, includes new regulations for virtually anything with a motor:

In the ANPR, the EPA contemplates higher gas mileage standards for motor vehicles beyond those already scheduled to be imposed in accordance with the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act. The EPA also discusses strict requirements for everything from airplanes to ships to trains to lawnmowers, all of which could be subject to new design specifications and usage limitations as well as fuel economy standards, as described in painstaking detail in the ANPR.”

Congress has been reluctant to move forward expeditiously with cap and trade legislation. In fact, The House decided against President Obama’s plan to use the budget to fast-track cap and trade. There’s good reason for such reluctance; the debate’s not over.

Crazy train…. Where is the rope to pull? I want off this thing. CO2 is our friend.

A bunch of blithering idiots pushing an unsubstantiated agenda to an ignorant multitude of followers. Humans along with all animal life are carbon based. All mammals exhale CO2 and plants take this in at night and release O2 (oxygen for the ignorant multitudes) which is what all life needs to exist. Global Warming can be corrected or offset by buying and selling Carbon Credits? Who’s going to sell that volcano in Alaska some Carbon Credits to offset all the debris that it spewed into the air? Earth maintains herself. Help her along but don’t think that you can take her over!

Two points, CO2 is not a pollutant, but the very stuff of life of earth for carbon lifeforms on earth. Yes, that’s all plants and animals on earth. No CO2, all life ceases to exist on earth.

Second if the desire to regulate CO2 still persists, then lets propose we super glue the mouths and noses of all liberals together so they cannot no longer emit pollution into the endangered atmosphere. That should halve man’s contribution right there, and some say the carrying capacity of earth is about half the present population. A two for one hit here.

The second point, a little tongue in cheep, so I will add a third … Since the geologic record shows CO2 has been as much as 10 times higher than today, how do we know that the atmosphere is not short CO2 at the present concentration? Is it not just as likely that the atmosphere is low on CO2 as it is high on CO2? So how do we know what is just right?

Or is it just all about energy taxes, rationing and control of people.

Pay more in taxes to the government, so government scientists can pretend to control the weather. What’s hard to understand about that.

What we have in Washington is stupidity and arrogance wrapped in one and being sold to the largely ignorant masses to impoverish them and keep them destitute so that they would exchange their votes for food stamps.

Correct me if I am wrong. It is my understanding that there are about 30,000 undersea active volcanoes and or volcanic fissures that are the cause of oceans warming. The planet has an elliptical orbit, and we are in a 175,000 year cycle of this orbit. There have not been any sun spots for the past four or five years, indicating that the sun is “acting up” Every planet in our solar system is warming up. The planet has tilted 1.5 degrees. Magnetic north has moved. A new ocean current was discovered off the coast of Australia about 5 or 6 months ago.
It is my understanding that all of the above are the true causes of climate change, and not the SUV,or any amount of energy usage on this planet.
Clean air is one thing,as a matter of fact the air in North America is 47% cleaner now then it was in the mid 1970’s.
Global warming is a hoax, it is a lie as it is presented. Global climate change is taking place, but it is not caused by industry, or by energy usage of any kind. It seems to be a natural occurrence that we have absolutely no control over.
This hoax that is being perpitrated upon us by those who wish to control us. Enough is Enough!!

More and more scientists and thinking people all over the world are realizing that man-made global warming is a hoax that threatens our future and the future of our children. More than 700 international scientists dissent over man-made global warming claims. They are now more than 13 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers. http://www.climatechangefraud.com/content/view/3562/218/

Additionally, 32,000 American scientists have signed onto a petition that states, “There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate…” http://www.petitionproject.org/index.html

“Progressive” (communist) politicians like Obama seem determined to force us to swallow the man-made global warming scam. We need to defend ourselves from the UN and these politicians, who threaten our future and the future of our children. Based on a lie, they have already wasted billions and plan to increase taxes, limit development, and enslave us.

If not stopped, the global warming scam will enrich the scammers (Gore and Obama’s Wall Street friends), increase the power of the U.N. and communists like Obama, and multiply poverty and servitude for the rest of us.

Is it just me or did anyone else find it amusing that the UN released an admission that global warming is a hoax on Earth Day. They called global warming a vehicle for redistribution
of wealth through tax increases. The story was carried by CNN on EARTH DAY. I am sure it was not coincidence, but I have not yet figured out exactly why they decided to release this story on earth day, and CNN carrying the story adds to my confusion, for now.
Speaking of earth day, based on early accounts, it did not go as well as some people would have liked. I doubt the liberal media will admit this but it is pretty obvious. Hundreds of websites yesterday were telling everyone to turn on all of their lights at 8:30. I drove through several cities last night including Houston, TX. and while I did see a few dark buildings, most looked normal. A drive through neighborhoods was a different story. I estimate maybe one house in 30 was dark, I saw more houses with every light in the house on than I saw dark houses. It seemed that the counter measure was more successful, indicating to me that many people now see global warming for what it is and are sick of it.
Many of the Hollywood loons are speaking about the U.S. need to be the leader in the fight against global warming while other countries are wondering why the U.S. continues to beat a dead horse.
We all want a cleaner planet and I am sure we could do a better job if we get rid of the corrupt people in Washington and focus on legitimate issues the we can impact instead of wasting tax dollars on a fraudulent fantasy designed to further the agenda of what I consider to be a sub-species of the human race known as liberals. I suggest we just blame the whole affair on George Bush and move on to something important like saving the planet from our newest and greatest threat, Obama and Pelosi.

A tax increase to fix Freddie and Fanny.
A tax increase to fix the Banking Meltdown.
A tax increase to fix Health Care.

I knew it would just only take A tax increase to fix Global Warming !
