British MEP Daniel Hannan

YouTube Preview ImageIn a speech during Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s visit to the European Parliament on March 24, 2009, British Member of the European Parliament Daniel Hannan gives a striking speech directed at his Prime Minister, explaining the pitfalls of liberal borrow-spend-bailout policies.  Sound familiar?  Instead of DVDs, President Obama should have given Gordon Brown his teleprompter, because without it, there is no response to this.

Heritage,
please send a copy of this to every Republican Congressman and Senator to watch it, learn from it and muster the courage to speak uniformly, stridently and unwaveringly against the spending orgy of the Obama administration and the Democrat Congress. Say it loud, say it often, say it everywhere so that the hardworking Americans will know that they have advocates, strong and principled as they are, standing with them and opposing the alien indoctrination into socialism.

I wonder what the repercussions were for Daniel Hannan after his bold and lucid speech. It is striking that every comment, every action, every alternative offered to this administration by a Republican meets with caustic jibes from the Press Secretary, the House Speaker and Obama himself. Remember — 47.1% of voters did NOT vote for Obama. It is imperative that we encourage our House and Senate representatives to be as bold and lucid as was Daniel Hannan. They are our voice and we need them to be fearless, consistent and persistent in representing us in defending the freedom and values that are the heart of our nation.

This is now rising fast on YouTube and was the speech that preceded Daniel Hannan’s:
