  • Obama Will Shock Consumers with Higher Electric Bills

Hold onto your thermostat as well as your wallet! Annual utility bills may rise $1,800 under President Obama’s “cap and trade” energy tax plan. That wipes out his pledge of a $800 a year tax cut for 95% of Americans.

The White House admits low-balling the cost in Obama’s official budget, which claimed that his plan would add $646 billion to energy costs over 8 years.

The new price tag is three times as high, close to $2 trillion in 8 years, according to Jason Furman, deputy director of Obama’s National Economic Council. That’s $250-billion each year to be passed along to consumers, equivalent to adding an extra 50% to what the U.S. Department of Energy estimates we spend on energy each year.

A 50% increase on home utilities would average about $150 per month–$1,800 per year–since the average bill is $297 a month according to the White Fence Index. The White House claims it would offset this with an $800 per year household tax credit (and 42% of it would go to those who don’t even pay income taxes. Even with an $800 rebate, the net loss is $1,000 per family per year.

Obama claims it’s necessary to halt global warming even though the Earth is actually cooling. Americans are about to pay dearly for global warming hysteria. The planet may not be getting hotter, but people will be as they learn about this.

Details are found here at Human Events online.

This is going to destroy our economy. This will drive the prices of everything up. Not only will our utilities go up, but businesses as well. So, products and services costs will increase. Businesses will not be able to hire or expand, because they will have to pay for these increases.

    3. Ozzy6900, CT says:

Just what the People of America need, something else to screw up the monthly budget! Some people spent thousands of dollars on furnaces, AC units, appliances just to cut the utility bills. Now thanks to the quacks of Global Warming, we are going to pay more than ever! We need to figure a way to stop these idiots from bleeding us dry!

A wind turbine (big one) produces about 2MW. A modern coal power plant produces 1000MW. You will need an army of 500 wind turbines to produce 1000MW. Wind turbine installation requires approximately 0.1 Sq.Km area of unobstructed open space for every 1MW. In order to equal a coal power plant of 1000 MW, you will need a minimum of 40 Square mile! The US installed capacity of electric power plants is roughly 900,000MW. Even if you include the land area used for mining of coal, land use by coal power plant is much smaller than the wind farm rated to produce the same amount of power.

Wind turbine can only generate power within a range of wind velocity. If wind dies down or gets over 50mph the power generation stops. And, wind doesn’t blow all the time. You can not store electricity (at those levels) for later use when the wind dies down.

Hmmm, nine hundred times 40 Square miles,,,,? of land that must be cleared,,,, are these the same activist telling people to plant a TREE ?.

Great idea cut down our forest [ old growth ] and plant new trees, we can just tell all the animals and insects to wait for the new trees to grow, sounds like someone didn't quite think this through.

Here is somethin else you should know about that tax break he offered 95% of Americans:

Some Taxpayers Could Be Underwithheld Because of New Tax Credit, Olson Says

Payroll officials are wondering how they can let two- income and married workers know that they may be underwithheld on their income tax in 2009 as a result of President Obama's economic stimulus proposals, officials at the American Payroll Association's Capital Summit said March 19.

For 2009 and 2010, the Making Work Pay Tax Credit in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Pub. L. No. 111-5) provides a refundable tax credit of up to $400 for working individuals and $800 for married taxpayers filing joint returns.

The credit was designed to allow workers to take home more pay as a way to boost the economy. It required a change in Internal Revenue Service income tax withholding tables.

Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson, who addressed the conference, said she is concerned about the effect of the new withholding on workers who may not be aware that they need to change their elections in order to avoid surprises at the end of the year.

Some workers may find that instead of getting money back, they owe money, she said. While some have said the amount could be nominal, Olson said even a few hundred dollars could be significant for low-income people or the working poor.

Olson said she is working with the stakeholder outreach group for IRS's Wage and Investment Division to formulate some talking points that will let people know that, if they have two jobs or are married and both spouses work, that they may need to file a new Form W-4 to have more money withheld

    6. Al, The Villages, Fl says:

You notice that, although we need jobs to boost the economy, the administration is not interested in drilling for oil in the U.S. It is not the answer but it is the starting point for an energy policy that addresses power generation, distribution and transportation that must move off of oil based fuels in a way that can be transitioned and doesn't ruin the economy. I noticed that when gasoline dropped below its high prices last year, Pickens stopped pushing his plan for wind and the transition to natural gas for autos. That tells you something about what it takes for the current alt energy ideas to be cost effective. Add cap and trade (what an invitation to fraud) to the mix and all energy use is going to be too expensive for us to use. Yes, this administration, whatever its ideology, is setting up a great plan for failure of this nation's economy. In my view, the reason the administration is lagging in "fixing the economy" is that they hope to use this crisis to shove through their programs before we, the people, learn what they are.

    7. Jerome Zacny says:

Let's not get too upset. Mr. Obama's pledge to American families making less than $250,000 a year was that they would not have their taxes raised. He never said that he wouldn't tax everything those families needed to live, such as utilities, gasoline, food and clothing. He never said that he wouldn't tax small businesses out of existence.

He never said that when he closed Gitmo, that he wouldn't turn its occupants loose in the U.S.

It's not so much what Mr. Obama doesn't say, it's the way he doesn't say it.

OMG! Where is all this going to end? Wait until they start to target more groups with taxes, dictate the temperature of your home, the amount of water you use and make you eat less. These idiots will also be heavy into brainwashing our children in "their" schools.

Someone needs to look into what happened in September then there was a run on money market funds that started this whole mess just in time to get Obama elected.

    12. Tim/Ohio says:

Since my home state of Ohio generates a large portion of its electric from coal, I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank all you uninformed Ohioans that voted for this radical government. Thanks to your ignorance we will all pay enormous energy bills. Electric, natural gas, and gasoline will all go through the roof to pay for all these outlandish programs and bailouts. Welcome to The United Socialist States of America. Oh, wait a minute! I forgot, this is for the enviroment. I guess that makes it O.K. Wake up America!

    13. Kevin, Addison,TX says:

Is it me, or has the white house gone completely mad. How can any politician, democrat or republican tell the people they represent that this good for the economy. Wake up America, and vote these ridiculous people out of office next ear.

    14. Lynn B. DeSpain says:

As I've mention before, Lenin said,"If you lie often enough, it becomes the truth,"

Global Warming was merely a hypothesis and thoroughly discredited by Professor Robert Carter and numerous other "Real Scientist."

Obama plans to create a 'Carbon Tax' on 'Fossil Fuels.' This will be really interesting in the Courts, because Coal, Methane Gas and Crude Oil have absolutely nothing to do with any previous living thing!

Oil is a natural product of Planet Earth, the high temperature, high pressure, continuous reaction between Calcium Carbonate and Iron Oxide, two of the most common compounds in the Earth's Crust!

Acontinuous reaction that occurs at 100 KM, at a pressure of approximately 50,000 atmospheres and a temerature of approximately 1500 C.

The Earth's rotation causes the oil to flow outward though the Crust's fissures!

NASA conclusive studies of Saturn's giant moon Titan show an abundance of Methane. There never has been any 'Fossils' there!

So how can you Tax something that doesn't exist,'Fossil Fuel' for causing an effect, "Green House", that doesn't exist either?

Should make for very interesting Court Cases! Even more of our Money wasted in Courts trying to collect a tax on something that doesn't exist because it doesn't do any harm because the effect doesn't exist either!

      Stupid, Stupid, Lemmings.

Just what we need………higher bills………..no jobs……stimulus bill of $250.00 and we go to Walmart and get things made in China……where do we find things made in the USA? More bills……higher bills……..no jobs and no money……this is all so ridiculous….we will have war break out in our own country if someone does not get our country in shape. What are you doing to our children?……our children's children and our great grandchildren. This is not a popularity contest but real problems of real people. If we can not pay the bills we have why would you increase them? No to higher electric bills.

It's a real shame that nobody listened to "the One" before the election…… He actually said all of these things. And I, like a dummy, thought everyone heard what I heard. He said these things before….higher utility bills, closing Gitmo, etcetera….The Constitution is not going to stop this man from doing whatever he wants to do…because he has "issues" with that document. He doesn't like this country. He wants to remake it. Before he can do that, he has to destroy it and some of us. I was stunned that he won the election,(…don't quite believe it now.) On November 5th, I cried…. On January 20th, I cried…… I'm still crying….Not so much for me…but for my children and my grandchildren…. I've been very lucky to have lived my life in a Free America…I want that for my children and their children….. This is our country. I am willing to fight to get it back. Are you???

    20. John Atlanta says:

At this rate we will need to live like the old west, Pump our water, hunt for food, and build our own fire. This is OUT OF CONTROL. 2010 we need to fire them all in Washington, D.C.

    21. markelder Texarkana says:

Just wait until winter when no one can afford to heat their homes thus we all must burn wood to stay warm then the environmentalist will scream polution and with the extra intensly high energy costs I predict we will still have roving blackouts across America. Death toll will go up under a heat wave and under freezing conditions thus moving the federal government to impose more restrictions on the American people. Obama and the environmentlaists are nothing short of demons.

    22. McCullough says:

If you do not have all the facts you should wait before you speak. My Electric Bill went down from .24 cent per kilowatt to .09 cent per kilowatt, 2 year contract. In office less than 90 days and someone can call him an idiot. I would never call any President an idiot. Mr Bush was in office for 8 years and he was the President of the United States of America.

President Obama has no intention of raising electric rates . This article is almost a joke in idiocy. All efforts are being made to control the effects of the Bush Administration where there was no executive direction with respect to an energy policy. Remember under President Bush oil hit $150. Let's all remember this article and hold you to it , for you are going to be proven wrong one more time.
