All children need to have the opportunity to have a great education. It is the one thing that they will never lose. All of us can appreciate this at a time when we are watching our retirement funds evaporate and the value of homes dissipate.
Surely these children who have a chance through education to become succesful and productive citizens have a legitimate request.
Educational choice should be a citizen's right.

President Obama's children attend Sidwell Friends, a private school in Washington, D.C. that accepts children who are part of the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program. Is President Obama really willing to kick his daughter's friends and classmates out of school and send them back to the failing, D.C. public school system?
Every kid in America should have the same opportunity as these kids in D.C., but not on the taxpayer's money. Take the mega billions earmarked to double the size of the Federal Dept. of Education and give it to the states and D.C. to higher teachers instead of more bureaucrats. That would help all the kids in America instead of just a few!
Public education is broken in this country. They are more interested in teaching politics than any values, let alone math and science. It is driven by NEA or Teachers' Union for their benefit and not that of the students. Give each parent a school stamp so that hey can apply towards any school they choose. Then, watch how fast the public schools turn around. Public schools are another reason for failure following unionization.
What they are doing to deprive those DC kids and their parents is criminal.
I send my kids to private school at great sacrifice and cost. President Obama does not care one bit about these children. His only desire is to further his own agenda. Every parent should be able to decide where and how they want their children educated. God Bless these kids for having a chance to get out of the brainswashing socialistic machine that we call our public school system.
Obama does not care about these children. He only cares about being re-elected — he is paying back the NEA for their support by agreeing to eliminate school choice.
