It is interesting that nuclear energy deniers take no interest in the most difficult nuclear waste; that produced by nuclear medicine. Have you ever heard one talk about shutting down radiation therapy or X-Ray machines? The French have been re-using spent nuclear fuel for years.
Why can't we?

Nuclear energy is the safest way for the U.S. to go into the 21st century . As long as politicans try to run everything the country is never going to advance enough to have the energy that we need . The politicians in Washington have no intentions of serving the people , but every thing they can to stay in power . Nuclear waste can be taken care easily enough , but we have to have a Gov. that is willing to make hard desisions
about how to go about it , not what is political
correct.

These are all nice sentiments but the reality is those who now control our government have shown no intention of do anything that would serve the interests of American citizens. They're are just too busy serving themselves at our expense. Basically the won the American citizens did not.

You think the NEI would have just been advocating for straight vitrification of waste materials. It's completely safe for storage, lacks contamination threats, and is the best method developed in decades.

That's what they're building at Hanford, WA right now to clean up leftover waste from Manhattan.
