Why does this surprise anyone? History again is the instructor to our relations with Russia. WWII, the Russians were part of the Axis until Hitler turned on them. Caught between Axis powers, Russia maneuvered Herself with the Allies and wound up with half of Europe. People like General Patton tried to warn the Powers but he was told not to upset our Russian allies.

Russia has been a thorn in the side of the Free World since then. Korea, The Space Race, Viet Nam, The Cold War, and a frightful week in October known as The Cuban Missile Crisis. Whenever the World cried for help, the US went there but never was able to finish the job because of the closely matched Nuclear capability of both sides.

The US has always tried to make nice with Russia yet never taking Its eyes off the Bear. In doing so, the US has catered to the whims of Mother Russia if nothing else, to stave off Nuclear conflagration. It is a no win situation, Russia speaks and we back off. Only President Reagen had the audacity to stand up the the Mother Bear and look Her in the eye and say, "Show me your game and I'll punch your clock!".

Now, it appears that the Left will take us back to the 1940's when the US didn't want to upset our "Russian allies"!
