I suggest that, 'Steve from Arizona' take some remedial reading and then go read the actual U.S. Constitution...

This is a absolute crime on every level. But this is also a reflection of where we now are as a country. We have let our elected representatives become a ruling class of elites marching to their own leftist agenda regardless of what you or I think.

I think that Harry Reid expressed it fully about this project:

"My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol."

He knew what he was saying and he said it anyway without fear of retribution. Well folks, he's just voicing what he thinks of the American voter in general. Very little other than a smell.

Welcome to the New United States.

Gregory, I'm very old and this will take some considerable effort, but I would like to speak:

"On every question of construction [of the Constitution] let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed."
--Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Johnson, June 12, 1823

And here's a word from my colleague James Madison:

"Do not separate text from historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government."
-- James Madison

All right Mr. Washington, you may speak too:

"If in the opinion of the people the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates, but let there be no change by usurpation; for though this in one instance may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed."
-- George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to rolling over in my grave...

and I thought I was the only one who noticed the erosion of our rights. Now I know I am not suffering from paranoia. Someone is trying to destroy our country, and just like fruit I believe from the inside out. We need to be frighten to death.

I actually looked at the transcript linked in this post. I encourage others to do so too, rather than letting Mr. Spalding do their reading for them. I find myself wondering what he is so worked up about. The transcript contains no argument that the Constitution equals this list of aspirations given. Where did that come from? There is just a heading, "National Aspirations," followed by the list indicated, with examples. That makes for a "scandal"?
