Having Courage to Fight the Evils of Communism and Socialism

TBILISI — Discussions at the fifth annual European Resource Bank today turned to the question of how to implement radical reforms, and what we can learn from previous success stories such as Estonia. A panel titled, “Reforms need more than sound economics,” expressed the view that legislators of new democracies need to put forward a moral vision when undertaking serious reforms, and further to that, they need to bankrupt the previously dominating communist ideology.
Communism and socialism have dominated the social, political, cultural and philosophical space in large parts of the world, and continue to gain traction under the mistaken belief that their foundations were fundamentally right, but were just implemented incorrectly. CATO’s Tom Palmer and Estonia’s former Prime Minister Mart Laar were just two speakers to put forward compelling strategies for reform-minded legislators, with Laar stressing that policymakers “need the courage to do the right thing.”
A lot has been said (and speculated) about Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in the international press. But no one can doubt the path of free market-based economic reforms he has steered Georgia down since his election, and the successes it has garnered for Georgia.
Among many notable achievements for this open and vibrant economy is a very healthy banking sector, an extremely welcoming visa regime and low business and personal taxes. This did not happen in isolation of Saakashvili’s commitment to ridding the country of communism once and for all and his vision for a country integrated in the Euro Atlantic community. Laar may well have been referring to Saakashvili when he was talking about politicians who have the courage to do the right thing.

Dear Morning Bell: Seems like Our Founding Fathers knew what the were talking about when they showed the courage, to stand for something that is beyound price. Those who will accept failure, from some people that live in America at our expense, are the same persons, who will take your Freedom, And the same individuals, who care nothing about The country, or -even who died for its existance.It is to late after it is gone There is not a price, that can be put on Freedom.! Ask those who lost it- what it feels like…

The Democratic Party and Senator Obama have publicly shared many of these views, they just don’t label it Communism. It’s couched as racism, or global warming, or fairness. Wake up America or we will not be a “free” much longer!

who had no concern for the “common man”
>31.Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American
History on the ground that it was only a minor part of the big picture
>32.Support any socialist movementthat will give centralized control over any
part of US culture, education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health
clinics, etc.
>33.Eliminate all laws or procedures that interfere with the opoeration of the
Communist apparatus

>35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI

Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but a psychiatrist
can understand or treat

My state, New Mexico has been controlled by the Democratic Party for 60 years and because of this, the former Senate leader of the NM Legislature, pled guilty of corruption today. This is a huge move for our State. Hopefully, it is the beginning of our cleaning up our own state, which is the something only the citizens of NM can do. We cannot depend on our national government to do this for us.
In my opinion, we each individually have to do our best to accomplish this. In l983, I founded my group, La Herencia en Santa Fe, a group who believes that we have a vested interest in the real estate in NM. The only thing we want is our land back in private ownership. I organize land grants, both Mexican and Spanish, have never been involved in any racist group, have never been involved with ACORN and believe that the Democratic Party is corrupt and evil. I will spend the rest of my life supporting capitalizism and private land ownership. It is the only thing I can do but I will do it and I wish other Americans in NM shared my views. Santa Fe people are the most conservative I have ever met. We ask nothing from our government. Our government has totally disappointed us.
