There will be many sad and deplorable stories to come out of this bailout farce. One of them has been the brazen opportunism of the Labor Unions. The magnanimous bailout proposal from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) was, in fact, just a rent-seeking wish list…

The New York Times shines light on the unsurprising trouble state and local governments are having issuing new debt: “Analysts said the dysfunction in the municipal bond markets appeared to signal the end of an era of relatively cheap money for governments and, probably, the start of an era of tough choices for communities.”…

The roll call vote on H.R. 1424, which, as amended, is the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, plus the tax extenders. The measure passed 74-25. For more, see documents on the Senate Banking Committee website. Division A (pp.2-113) of the draft legislation is referred to as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008…

It’s easy when thinking about jobs of the future to neglect the sector that has been with us since the beginning of and is basically the foundation of human civilization. But farming is changing dramatically…
