Healthcare providers would prefer universal single-payer healthcare because the cost to their patients is greatly reduced and they do not have to hire extra people to handle sorting out the billing and coding.

It is much more efficient to eliminate the private health management companies because they are really only billing entities who extract cost plus 15% to process what Medicaid and Medicare can process for 6%.

The competition between public and private medical management in terms of efficiencies is all on the public side.

People pay taxes into the pool which costs less than private insurance and with economies of scale they receive a better rate.

It is that simple. Just ask any of the rest of the industrialized countries who already know this.

It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of energy that can go into a project just to avoid doing the right thing. The best, simplest, least costly, most effective thing we could do is expand what has been working so well for years, Medicare. You get sick, you get care, and the caregiver gets paid. Nothing could be simpler.

But follow the money and you’ll find why the politicians don’t like it a bit. They get their money from insurance interests, and they don't want to stop the flow. Not even if it is the best thing for the country.

"America will always do the right thing, but only after everything else fails." Winston Churchill

Great idea to have the government act only as facilitator and not as owner of health care coverage. Health care tax credits and health insurance exchanges would give individuals power over their own health care.
