When our government calls American corporations, for which hundreds of thousands of citizens work, "BIG OIL" or "BIG TOBACCO" or "BIG PHARMACEUTICAL", it is "BIG GOVERNMENT" we need to be concerned with and put these pompous do-knothings in their place. Get "BIG GOVERNMENT" OUT of the oil business NOW. These idiots can't run the government properly much less our corporations! They will destroy our corporations just like they did social security or medicare. Everything these braindead idiots, like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy touch becomes a disaster that haunts the American people, especially the tax-payers, for YEARS! The "NEW AMERICAN REVOLUTION" needs to begin immediately! Mostly to blame are the "thought controllers" in the news media, who no longer are interested in just relating what is happening, their goal is to dis republicans and uplift democrats, especially those who are closer to socialists/communists. My question is "why are we allowing this to happen?". For God's sake, half of this country is wanting to vote for an avowed communist!? A total NOBODY, with NO EXPERIENCE other than putting together 2 communist party groups, is being touted as the Mesiah!? What in the wild world of sports is goin on here?!!

Folks, please feel sorry for me. I have to live near people like the above commenter..... And they vote for morons like Mark Udall to NOT represent me.

As to the topic, yes, that is a compromise. The leftists want no expansion of production of our energy. The conservatives want optimal expansion of energy. So 14% of the oil exploration and none of the general tax breaks for R&D into market viable alternatives is a compromise.

The biggest problem with the Republican party over the last decades (John McCain being one of the better examples) has been their desire to compromise with people they know are wrong and their complete inability to get anywhere near 50% while doing so. Many of us, myself included, are tired of that kind of compromise. Force the Democrats in both houses to vote on the House Republican plan as it exists. Force them to do it BEFORE Nov. Let's win, lose or draw based upon the issues this time around.

Trolls like my neighbor from Boulder above know they lose on this issue which is why they don't want a straight up or down vote on it and wish to change the subject as quickly as possible to something completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Look at McCain's experiences/decisions. He has multiple vacation homes -- at least 7. One of the homes he did not pay his taxes for 4-5 years. Yes, that is true. He was almost in foreclosure! If he can't take care of his, how can he take care of others?
