The Bottom Line on Energy

Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) stopped by the weekly Conservative Bloggers Briefing at Heritage today, to talk about her recent trip with Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) on his “American Energy Tour” to Colorado and Alaska. Bachmann noted that the proposed energy exploration sought in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is confined to a small 2,000-acre lot “that is comparable to a postage stamp sitting on a football field.” She stressed that the Eneregy Information Administration estimates that there is 10.4 billion barrels of oil in ANWR that would create as many as 750,000 American jobs.
Bachmann concluded: “The bottom line is that we are the only country in the world that has made it illegal to access our own energy.” We couldn’t agree more.

Rep. Bachmann says, “would create as many as 750,000 American jobs”.
Well its a start. But she should have said, “…would create as many as 750,000 high paying jobs. And if the dem’s would stop blocking us, many of these jobs would begin to come on line just in time for Christmas ‘08. So we ask why are the democrats standing in the way of much needed high paying jobs for U.S. citizens?”
This is the tactic that should be taken by our side. High paying oil field related jobs to replace the millions of manufacturing jobs lost over the past decade or so. That $750 billion annually that T. Boone speaks of being folded back into our “own” economy rather than going offshore into the pockets of the Opec ministers and their bosses. Much of it ending also ending up in the hands of our enemies.
This argument makes sense and will energize the average middle American voter. DD
