Gov. Palin has my attention now. Not just another pretty face, for sure. She's on the right track. But if I could be her adviser I'd tell her to emphasize the number of high paying jobs that drilling would bring to Alaska. And not only Alaska but to the rest of the U.S. If Middle Americans could be made aware of the number of high paying, oil field related jobs there would be if we increased our domestic oil production, they'd be burning up the phone/fax/email lines to their representatives. And that influx of jobs "could begin" in time for Christmas '08. Middle America loves a fat job market. That way they feel like they have better bargaining power with their employer. Less need to grovel - know what I mean?
Our side is doing such an extreme pitiful job of selling this "drill now" proposal. What must be done is to back the dem's in a corner. And that can "only" be done by forcing them to answer this question, "why are you dem's denying Middle America all of these high paying oil field related jobs?" Our side could become Middle America's advocate and Lord knows they need an advocate what with all of the manufacturing jobs being shipped overseas.
All of these other arguments being presented now on this issue [by our side] are weak and lack any dynamic. Darvin Dowdy
