How the Next President Can Return America to Prosperity - U.S. News and World Report
Don’t look for President Obama or President McCain to save you, America. The tumbling housing market and rising gas prices will continue to plague the U.S. economy in 2009—and there is nothing either of those guys can do about it. Unless they do…

U.S. Congress = OPEC? - Carpe Diem
Energy: What do the Democratic-led Congress and OPEC have in common? Both sit on vast amounts of oil, and are content to leave it in the ground and let prices soar…

A Bakken Round-Up - Shopfloor.org
A bright spot in domestic energy production is the Bakken Formation underlying North Dakota and Montana, its development made possible through new technology, investment by oil companies, and the fact that the much of the property is held in private…

On Onions, Oil, and ‘Speculators’ - The CATO Institute
Politicians who blame “speculators” in futures markets for the run up in oil prices — such as Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) writing in this morning’s USAToday — should consider a lesson from the lowly onion…

Its not complicated. Put lots of money in the wallets of Middle America in the form of high paying jobs. They’ll spend it at restaurants, theme parks, theatres, retail, etc.
When the U.S. is producing 75-85% of its own oil, there will be an abundance of high paying oil field related jobs. (that aren’t there now)
With the continued ethanol program keeping U.S. grain prices high (foreign $ coming in to the U.S.), corporate and family farmers will be fat with cash. Again, spending money. Spreading it around at the John Deere dealership, Tractor Supply, and the local Dairy Queen.
When we put a stop to Mexican Truckers crossing the border and driving on U.S. taxpayer highways [without work visas!]and being forced to drop their loads on the U.S. side in a 5X20 mile drop zone rectangle, U.S. truck drivers will have bulging wallets, again. They’ll stop at the buffet lines at truck stops instead of eating bologna sandwiches in the cab of their trucks. They’ll buy new trucks, accessories and gear for the same.
It won’t matter if folks are paying $3.75 for a gallon of gas when they’re taking home $80k or $90k annually. It won’t be such an issue.
There are 2 political parties that can make the above happen. The opportunity is there. Like $100. bills on the ground waiting to be picked up. Lets hope its not Obama that seizes day. Then again, maybe both will pass up the prize. DD
